Glengoyne wins Green Packaging Award
Scotch whisky brand and IPL Packaging customer, Glengoyne, has won the 2020 Green Packaging Award for the spirits category at The Drinks Business Green Awards. The awards ceremony was held as a virtual event, emblematic of our times but not diminishing the significance of the honour.
The judges remarked that Glengoyne is “taking a novel environmental approach to luxury packaging” and focused on the second-use ability of the prestige 25YO and 30YO packaging as something never seen before. There’s no more appropriate sphere than sustainability, given the importance of the undertaking to our collective well-being, on which to concentrate our creative energies. The recognition of an initiative in this regard is high praise indeed.
IPL is proud to have originated the second-use concept for these boxes and is grateful to Glengoyne and design agency, Taxi, for recognising its potential, for running with it, and for giving us the opportunity to develop and supply the end result – a set of beautifully crafted wooden boxes that feature personalisable plaques, peelable labels and removable inner fitments to allow their use as a debranded, luxury storage cabinet once the whiskies inside have been savoured to their very last drop.
This concept is one of the first packaging solutions in the industry that actively promotes reuse rather than recycling. At IPL, we are delighted to be assisting Glengoyne in bringing their outstanding whiskies to market with an industry-leading duty-of-care and sense of responsibility – values with which we are deeply appreciative to be associated.
