A Tribute to Enduring Relationships

The second in our series exploring IPL’s packaging innovations for Laphroaig:

IPL Packaging continues its creative partnership with Laphroaig, this time crafting a remarkable packaging solution to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Friends of Laphroaig – a unique community that has connected enthusiasts with the iconic Islay distillery since 1994.

A Package Worthy of Friendship

Constructed from MDF with a carefully washed oak veneer exterior, the packaging presents a natural warmth that resonates with Laphroaig’s authentic character.

Precision laser engraving showcases the brand identity, enhanced by beautiful black, green, and grey ink-fill that brings depth and dimension to the surface. Two CNC-machined recesses on the top and bottom of the outer lid are elegantly finished with green polyurethane bands.

The side of the box features a bold interpretation of the Laphroaig logo that stands in striking relief against the oak background.

Celebrating a Unique Heritage

The inner door reveals a thoughtful nod to what makes Friends of Laphroaig truly special – each member’s ownership of one square foot of Islay land near Kilbride Reservoir, which protects Laphroaig’s vital water source. Two L-shaped aluminium corner holders, sandblasted and anodised in Laphroaig green, secure a kraft paper map of Laphraoig with UV printing and protective anti-scratch UV.

A lasered quotation on the inner back panel of the box provides further connection to the brand’s story, while the interior fittings have been meticulously considered: a veneered MDF bar with green flocked EVA cradles the bottle, complemented by flocked green EVA and flocked green paper on the bottom fitment. A green flocked EVA stopper inside the lid ensures the contents remain secure.

The opening mechanism features two matte black iron hinges, providing both functionality and adding to the aesthetic.
